The reality is that most of us just need a strong kick in the behind to get started the right way, others like me and others like to simplify things in order to get things done quickly, efficiently and by deadline. As you already read in the last sentence, the important key word for making 2009, task, goal, deadline getting achieved could simply be done by simplifying things.

As you probably know by now there are thousands if not close to a million ways to simplify things and get things done by top ranked authors on the internet and on bookshelves on lovely bookstores like Borders, Walden Book and the like. The uncomfortable news is that it is never easy to finishing your new resolutions for this year or any other task wanted achieved by you. It would be easy starting it, but it might be a pain in the neck to finish the project or task at hand. Been there done that, pass that, many times as probably you too.

What can be done in order to cure the problem of not finishing your year’s resolutions, your high enthusiastic high five goals? While numerous experts have their own way, my custom way works for me and might work for you as an additional option. Here is what you can do:

Ask yourself what did you accomplished last year and what you did not. Once you assess the ‘08 life, ask yourself very personal, emotional edifying points and jot them down in a piece of paper. Love your PC? Fine, add it on Microsoft Word but do not print yet.

Once you remind yourself what happened in 2008 ask yourself what you can do starting right now, to simplify your lifestyle. By simplifying it could mean to you to gain more spiritual connection, more peace, a better health, financial freedom, love? How can you achieve all of those options?

The new additive is born, and it took many years to really grasp and understand it. By simplifying and doing things correctly you can achieve all of the above. Many of us have found and received peace, love, financial freedom, love, spiritual connections, among other personal goals. But without doing things correctly, it would be like trying to become an Olympic swimmer and lifting weights like Ronnie Coleman! It just doesn’t happen.

What can you then do to make sure you get things done? Without knowing what enthusiasm you have, your intelligence, your history or whether your mind programming, set yourself goals and get them done correctly. So in order to have hundreds of pages in one single informational article, in simple order: decide to simply, set yourself short term and long term goals and do the correct things.

Whether it is starting your very first wholesale store on the internet, offering items to sell in your very first e-commerce small business site or on the plenty available websites online to create yourself a good, great or fantastic lifestyle in reasonable time, do not be fooled by the simple suggestions your fifth great teacher gave you on the class on how to set goals. Some people get insulted by reading simple articles about goals, deadlines and improving themselves, but the problem as you clearly see on how people really live is that the majority don’t simplify, do the correct things to improve on what they want or simplify to get things faster. Would you create goals, simplify and do the correct things?

2009 will be a very challenging year after the big financial crisis. The unemployment rates will increase drastically. Many companies have sent their employees for an extended holiday during the Christmas Holiday season. Employees worry about their jobs, many have already lost it. More than one income source will be needed to provide for a secure and regular cash flow.

Getting more than one job

Only public servants can afford to work on one single job. It is, however, recommendable to seek for more than one employment. Employees should not rely on the fate of an employer. It could be wise to work part time for different employers and thus to diversify the sources of income. If one employer cuts the jobs and dismisses staff, an employee will be lucky to have an alternative employer at hand. It secures at least a moderate income source during the worst time. Even if a person works on a full time job, it is recommendable to generate a side income that could be increased in the case that the main job gets lost.

Many people do not like to work at night or over the weekend. It could be a chance to apply for some jobs that have to be executed during such unpopular working hours.

Professionals in different crafts will have a better chance to make money out of different sources than clerks. Craftsmen, hairdressers, cooks, bakers, therapists etc. find always a chance to catch some extra work. They furthermore could offer their services as freelancers besides their main employment.

Renting out flats or houses

People who own some real estate are in a privileged situation. They can rent a part of their flat or house to tenants. Thus they can cut their own housing costs. They can use the revenues from the tenants in order to pay back their mortgages.

Scratching together cash resources

If the crisis gets worse and urgently needed cash runs out, people can sell dispensable equipment or vehicles. Ebay offers a good platform to make money quickly with needless goods. By the way, a life insurance can also be used as collateral in order to get a bankers loan.

Personal development is all about improving yourself as a person and reaching your goals in life. The goals vary between people. Quite commonly it relates either one or more of the following:

- improving your career
- improving your personality
- making more money
- finding your spiritual side
- Improving and building relationships
- finding your purpose in life

The above goals are common amongst people but the vast majority of people simply plod through life with no real regard to how they will achieve any of their true goals. It is only once we stop and think about our life do we start to realize that we may not have achieved what we want or that we are not on the right path to making those dreams come true. Whatever the case, making self improvement a major focus in your life has countless benefits.

Here are some quick tips to help you use personal development to your advantage:

1. Make a plan and write it down
Writing down your plans and goals on paper reaffirms them to you. It makes them real. Reading through this plan every day, twice or more per day, is the best way to train your brain to see them as reality.

2. Envisage yourself where you want to be
Do you want a new job, better marriage or more money? Then start imagining that it is happening right now. You will be surprised how events will fall into place once you have accepted the fact that you CAN have these things.

3. Take small steps
You can’t achieve your life goals in one day. But you can take steps towards it every day so make sure you make a move everyday that is just a small part of your overall development plan.

4. Be grateful
Only through being grateful through what you already have and the changes that have come about will you learn to accept even more good fortune into your life.

5. Take responsibility
Stop blaming others for where your life has ended up and realize that everything that you have now is a direct result of the decisions you have made each and every day. You can start making better decisions today and take full responsibility for the path your life will take.

These simple tips can help you make the most of what personal development has to offer.

The first week of August is Simplify Your Life Week, and I thought this would be a great topic to address. So, grab an iced tea, sit back and put your feet up. Let’s talk simplifying!!

So, what does it mean to simplify? I can guarantee you the definition is different for each of us because we all have differing priorities. But if you could simplify one area of your life, what would it be?

For me, it started when my daughter became a teenager. I felt it necessary to take a new part time job in the area so that I could be home more. This was a big change for me. I’d always been wrapped up in my career, commuting and working long hours. But I knew life as a teenager in today’s society was much more challenging than when I was a teen. I wanted to be available and visible. So, I jumped in with both feet! Let me tell you, this was a huge adjustment for our entire household . . . including our bank account.

In my situation, I simplified in many areas: New job, less hours, lower income, shorter commute, and cutting back on unnecessary spending. It’s a lot of changes all at once, and not something I’d normally recommend. Too many changes at once = overwhelm. For me, I was motivated, and there was no changing my mind.

But under less stressful situations, take a moment and make a list of small changes you can immediately put in place. For example, if your dresser is crammed with clothing you don’t wear or can’t fit into, make time to sort through three drawers. It’ll probably only take you 45 minutes. Have a box next to you and place your old clothing in it for donation to your favorite charity. Set the box aside and out of the way. The next day, do the same thing with another three drawers.

The point is, trim the excess around you a little at a time. Then, you can consider bigger changes. I have a quote that I relay to all of my clients: “Inch by inch is a cinch. Yard by yard is too hard.” I don’t know who coined this phrase, but it’s right on!

Now, just to give you a chuckle, I will give you an example of where I recently tried to implement too much at once. You could say I definitely bit off more than I could chew! One day I decided to bicycle more, eliminate sweets, and try to eat a more balanced diet (I say this as I’m at this moment waiting for our pizza deliveryman to bring us dinner), and cut back my visits to the quilt stores. I succeeded at this for two months, but it was overload and overwhelm. I broke down and went to In N Out for a burger and fries. I found that once I let one vice slip, the others weren’t far behind. How I should have simplified this was to allow myself a certain number of sweets per week, and one night a week for pizza or burgers. I have succeeded at telling myself ‘No’ when I’m in quilt stores. If a piece of fabric, tool or book doesn’t call my name, then I leave empty-handed and I don’t feel resentful with myself. In fact, I feel proud.

Another example of using the word ‘No’ is saying it to other people. Cut back on your commitments. I personally won’t serve on more than one committee at a time. When I explain that to people, they understand. In fact, they usually say they admire my ability to say no because they aren’t able to!

Yesterday I met an elderly lady who was simplifying her life in a big way. She had a large home and was downsizing to a smaller one. She’s also a quilter, and doesn’t sew as much as she used to. She simplified by clearing out her fabric stash, and keeping just a handful of projects. She wasn’t giving up her hobby, just simplifying it and her life.

There are some people who it seems as though are always getting ahead. Business people are all the time finding new products to sell. Some do well and then some do not do as well. Think of yourself in situations. Have you ever wanted to start a business but was scared to do it? Maybe you just did not know how. And then also, a friend told you that it was a crazy idea, do not touch it.

Those people that take chances always seem to find a way to pull the situation off. I will not say that they are all successful but at least they tried. As you walk down the street or maybe in a grocery store, just look at the people and wonder about their situation. You think they had missed opportunities or just never took that chance. Or they could be a millionaire and you would never no it!

Just like the songs you heard and think that you could have written them or something similar, most likely you can. The people in business are just the same as you and me, they had an idea and acted on it.

Do you want to one day look back and ask yourself why you never took that chance. Do you think you will be at an age where you think you would be too old to try anything new? You better think again. You will never be too old to try something new.

I was a production supervisor at one time in my life. It had to be one of the most rewarding things I had ever done. Not because of the company I was with but because of the interaction of the people. All most everyone had a dream of what they really wanted, no one really wanted to be stuck in a manufacturing job the rest of their lives. It was always, one day I want to… But very few if any would ever act on those dreams. But by building on those beliefs of others, it made me realize how important is was to not go through life without reaching for the stars.

Just simply take a step and examine your life. Determine what would really make you happy. Help is around every corner if you have questions. Determine how to get started and then act on it. you don’t have to quit your job, build slow, test the waters, but by all means act on your dreams. I think that is what life is all about.

I think I have a great opportunity but it’s not for everyone. Just like all the other opportunities, there are many, many, that are not for me. Internet marketing is something that I want to do so I’m doing it.

have suspected for a long time that systems like “The Secret” don’t really work. The reason is that they don’t really incorporate action into the whole process of success. Action is a crucial ingredient of success. Unless you take action, nothing happens.

However, there are plenty of negative people who are successful. The problem is that they don’t really enjoy their success, whether it’s financial or in other areas of their lives.

This is why systems like “The Secret” can become a launching pad for your success. The key to enjoying your success does start in the mind.

If you really want to succeed, and you want to enjoy your success, regardless of what area in your life, there are certain things you need to do that will help you.

Here are five that I have used successfully:

1. Use meditation for stress reduction and relaxation.

Meditation doesn’t have to be anything fancy. You don’t have to use any special words or anything like that. Simply sitting for 15 minutes a day and clearing your mind will have a dramatic impact on your stress, as well as help you relax.

To meditate, all you have to do is find a comfortable chair or recline on the floor. Let your body relax. Find something to focus on. Clear your mind. Meditation will help you relax and allow those things in life you need to deal with come to the surface.

2. Read something positive every day.

We put a lot of “junk” into our minds, whether it’s television, magazines, and tons of stuff on the internet. I know my daughter is particularly fond of reality TV and celebrity magazines.

I find that stuff to be depressing. Regardless of your faith or persuasion, there is plenty of stuff to read that is positive and reveals universal human truth.

Commit to spending a few minutes each day reading something that will help you become more positive.

3. Put a “STOP” to those negative thoughts.

Negative thoughts are unhealthy. Doctors estimate that at least two thirds of all illness has a pyschological root. This is a testament to how powerful the mind really is.

From my own personal experience, I know that the negative thoughts we often have are about ourselves. The way to stop those thoughts is every time you have one say “Stop” either in your mind or out loud. Do this enough times, and you’ll eventually stop having those thoughts.

4. Set goals.

When most people set goals, they do it wrong. They have so many things they want to do in life that they get overwhelmed in the process.

If you want to set goals, the first step is to know exactly what you want. What is your ultimate goal? Is it to have $10,000,000 in the bank? Is is to find your dream lover?

Regardless of what your goal is, decide your overall goal in life. Decide when you want to realistically have it. Then break that overall goal down into smaller goals that contribute to the overall goal. Accomplish each little goal, and eventually you will accomplish your overall goal.

5. Visualize your goals for success.

Most people take the “seeing is believing” approach to life. Because they think they have to see it before they can believe it, they never see it.

You have to see the end result in your mind first. It all starts in your mind. Once you see it in your mind, then your goal can become a reality.

The way to do this is close your eyes for a few moments. See yourself driving that car, living in that house, going out to dinner with your dream lover. See it in your mind first, and then take action. This is the true secret to achieving success.

When was the last time you heard someone say, “I just got a good deal”? Probably not very long ago. Is a purchase a “good deal” if you have to go into debt for it? It’s all a matter of timing.

Around this time last year, a neighbor told me that she and her husband purchased a brand new big screen television. “We got a very good deal. Payments don’t start for two years and the interest is really low,” she said.

Right now retailers are hurting. They’re falling all over themselves to sell us stuff. And if you need financing, well they’ll show you right where to sign. Heck, they’ll even give you a “discount”! The television is just one example. Car companies are slashing prices left and right, too. There are so many good deals to be had; maybe I should stop writing this article and start taking advantage of them!

Smart buyers understand their limitations. They have a budget and have been planning their purchase for some time. They’ve done enough homework to know exactly what they want before they enter the showroom, the electronics department, the gallery, the flea market, etc. If it’s a big ticket item, smart buyers have been setting money aside every month in anticipation of the purchase. And when they make the purchase, they get a very good deal - especially if they negotiate with cash.

But what makes a “good deal” a “smart buy”? Timing. If you’re stretching your budget or going into debt to buy something new, it’s definitely not the right time. It’s not a “good deal” if you can’t afford the purchase. After you’ve taken the time to plan for your purchase - financially and through research - you’ve made yourself “smart” in the buying process.

When planning for a big purchase, try the sinking fund approach. Divide the cost by the number of months between now and the time you’ll make the purchase. Every month set aside that amount in a special place so it won’t be confused with anything else. When buying time comes, you’ll have the cash ready to go get a great deal on a smart buy!

For many people these days shopping online is pretty commonplace, and people tend to buy all sorts of things online, from groceries and clothes to entertainment, books, holidays, and much, much more.

There are many benefits to shopping online, such as being able to purchase goods from around the world at the touch of a button, being able to get good deals and discounts on the products that you purchase, and also being able to enjoy the ease and convenience of doing your shopping from the comfort of your own home. There are also many other benefits that you can enjoy, such as not having to go out shopping in the cold, being able to do your shopping anytime of the night or day, and being able to avoid the frustrating queues in the shops.

In order to make sure that your online shopping experience runs smoothly you should make sure that you exercise caution and follow some simple rules.

In order to ensure the safety of your details when you shop online you should make sure that the website that you are shopping through is a secure one, and this is shown through a solid key or padlock symbol. This will help to make your online shop a safe and enjoyable process. You also need to make sure that if you use a credit or debit card to pay for your purchases you do not save any passwords or account numbers on a shared computer, as this may result in others being able to access the site in your name and commit fraud.

Whenever you place an order for items you should receive email confirmation of what you have ordered. You should make sure that you keep this safe, just in case there is a problem with delivery of the items or in case there is a fault with the items ordered. It is worth remembering that if you place an order online and there is a problem with the goods or delivery, you can take action, as you have the same rights as you would have if you had purchased the items in person.

You are probably better off using your credit card to make payments for products that you order online, as credit cards offer greater protection against problems or damage than other methods of payment as part of the Consumer Credit Act, which means that you have greater protection against a range of issues.

If you are ordering items from overseas during your online shop you should make enquiries with HM Customs and Excise with regards to whether you will have to pay additional duty and VAT on them, as some items are subject to inspection and these additional fees when they are imported into the country.

For those that are careful with their details and follow simple rules for safety and security, online shopping can be a great, convenience, and effective way of purchasing a wide range of different products and services.

Attempting to collect anything can be a task which calls for caution, especially when you are trying to track down and purchase pieces which are extremely rare. You can find a great number of items on the Internet in today’s culture, giving you the ability to find rare and collectible items much more easily than you could in the past. However, when you purchase items you’ve never seen from someone you’ve never met, things can be a lot more tricky. The seller could easily be lying about the product they are selling, giving you something which is not at all what you paid for. They can even potentially not send you anything at all. This is why, when you make any purchases off of the Internet, you must be very careful.

This is especially true for works of art. There are a number of great painters in this world who can make works of art which look exactly like a work which has been produced by a master. Their skill at creating striking facsimiles of these paintings is impressive. However, some people try to pass these copies off as the genuine articles for quite a bit more money than they are actually work. Unscrupulous behavior like this can end up costing you quite a bit of money.

Other vendors on the Internet may try to sell you a piece of autographed art but end up sending you only a photocopy in the end. Many times, a person will have a print of a famous painting, perhaps with the autograph of the artist located on it. They will then market this as a print of that famous painting that has an authentic autograph from the original artist located on it. However, once you win the item and the person ships the item to you, you discover that you only have a photocopy of the print with the autograph. Nothing about the piece is genuine and you have been ripped off.

Buying art over the Internet is something which you must always be careful of. Always make sure that the buyer has a good reputation before you make the purchase and be careful to check out the money-back guarantees in case anything is not as it seems. If you are buying the art on an auction website, you should certainly check out all of the credentials of the seller, seeing how other people have rated their transactions before you give your money to them.

When buying a piece of art in person, perhaps from a gallery or an auction house, you should examine the Certificate of Authenticity before purchasing. This certificate has been officially filled out with information about the artist, the year the painting was made, the experts who have examined the painting in detail and signed off on it as authentic, as well as contact information for those same experts, so that you can contact them with any questions. This Certificate of Authenticity goes a long way toward.

The Sony Prs is one of the strongest rivals of the Amazon Kindle. Launched a few weeks after Kindle, Sony’s e-book reader is quickly catching up in terms of sales and popularity. Both e-book readers basically share the same functions. The biggest difference in the features of the Amazon Kindle and the Sony Prs 505 would be their price, design, user friendliness, and readability.

One of the major differences is the price of these two models. Kindle cost about $100 more that the Sony model. Does the Kindle have any additional features that warrant this hefty premium? The main difference between the Amazon Kindle and any other e-book readers is Amazon’s own wireless connectivity, Whispernet. This uses the mobile phone’s 3G technology, enabling you to access the Amazon E-book store wherever you are. The Sony Prs-505 on the other hand uses normal WI-FI wireless technology. You will only be able to access Sony’s E-book store though internet connection. Does this extra feature warrants the additional $100? You be the judge.

Another great difference between these two e-book readers is its design. The Amazon Kindle has a bright white exterior with a minimalist design. The Sony Prs 505 on the other has a metallic silver exterior, which is more sleek and thin-looking compared to the Kindle. Many reviews sited Sony’s model as having a higher ‘cool-factor’ compared to the other models.

Personally, I think that one of the best features of the Sony Prs-505 is its user friendliness. Its user interface is shockingly simple and easy to use. Once connected to your PC, you can download over a dozen e-books in less than 2 minutes. There are nine buttons on the left side of the screen that allows you to easily access pages that you have book-marked. The only set back is that the page turns of the Sony Prs 505 is a little sluggish compared to Kindle.

Readability would be another highlight of the Sony model. The screen is bigger than the Kindle, which is a big plus. In addition to that, Sony has improved on the screen’s readability under bright light where the words on the screen become more visible under bright lights. The screen contrast is sharp but yet easy on the eyes.
